Unable to Join the Network Ring Setup A7: How to Troubleshoot

Ring Doorbell sometimes fails to connect to the network and keeps struggling with the connection. When your Ring doorbell is unable to join the network, charge it and check the Wi-Fi connection and networks.

In this article, I will walk you through the detailed reason why it is unable to join the network ring setup A7.

Unable to Join the Network Ring Setup A7: Reasons

Let’s know the possible  reasons why your Ring doorbell is unable to join the network:

1. Weak Wi-Fi Signal

A weak Wi-Fi signal is one of the biggest reasons why your Ring doorbell is unable to join the network. The doorbell may struggle and attempt to connect to Wi-Fi if the software is unable to connect to the network and send data to the users.

If numerous devices are linked to the same Wi-Fi network, the signal becomes weaker. The doorbell has trouble connecting to Wi-Fi when several devices are competing for the same amount of bandwidth.

In the beginning, switching to a better router can resolve the issue, and in the worst case, switching the internet service provider can also do so.

To check the Wi-Fi status,

  • Go to the “Ring app”
  • Go to “Menu” > “Devices”
  • Select your doorbell
  • “Device Health”
  • Scroll down to the “Status” to see your Wi-Fi status.

2. Incorrect Password or Incompatible Network

The camera won’t work if you enter the Wi-Fi password incorrectly while connecting to the network. The Ring doorbell becomes inaccessible when it cannot connect to the main Wi-Fi network.

In this case, the camera will flash to the top and won’t connect to the network.

However, if the doorbell is connected to an unstable network, it will be unable to join the network ring setup a7.

Your Ring may need a 5GHz or 2.4GHz broadband connection, depending on the model. Since most 5GHz gadgets are dual-band, either broadband connection may be selected.

Now that household Wi-Fi networks include 5GHz connectivity, there is the possibility for some relatively simple errors.

You need to first be aware of the settings on your Ring. You must connect it to your router’s 2.4GHz broadband connection if it is a 2.4GHz system.

It won’t function if you try to connect it to a dual-band router’s 5GHz option. Make sure your dual-band Ring is set to the appropriate broadband connection for your router if you have one. To resolve the problem, you must adjust the network connection.

3. Battery or Power Source Issues

Usually, the battery of the Ring Doorbell lasts around 6 to 12 months but for some cases, the batteries get drained fast. If the doorbell has a low battery it can have a connection problem as well.

Since the doorbell doesn’t have removable batteries, you have to charge them every 6 months.

You can check the battery level from your Ring App.

  • Go to the “Ring app”
  • Go to “Menu” > “Devices”
  • Select your doorbell
  • “Device Health”

Here you will see the percentage of the battery. And whether it needs to charge or not.

4. Router that is Too Far away from the Doorbell

When your router is too far away from the doorbell, it can have a connection problem. You can check if the strength of the doorbell is good or not.

To check:

  • Go to the “Ring app”
  • Go to “Menu” > “Devices”
  • Select your doorbell
  • “Device Health”
  • Go to “Signal Strength”

If the number is green then there is no problem and if the number here is red, that means the doorbell has trouble reaching the Wi-Fi signal because of the distance.

5. Hardwar Damage

Hardware damage to the router is a possibility when the ring doorbell is unable to join the network. Check your router for physical damage.

If you don’t find one then the internet connection is the culprit. Call your ISP to fix the internet connection. And if you find a problem with the router, then consider buying a router.

Here are some quick solutions you can do by yourself:

1. Fully charge the batteries

Some versions of the ring doorbells run on rechargeable batteries. And via the app, the Ring can signal that the battery is low. To fully charge the battery it will take 6 to 8 hours.

Usually, the batteries can power the doorbell for about 6 to 12 months. But you need to check the batteries every now and often.

2. Update the Firmware

To manually check for firmware updates and install them if available, follow these steps using the Ring app on your smartphone:

  • Open the “Ring app” and log in to your Ring account.
  • Tap on the three-lined menu icon () in the top-left corner to access the main menu.
  • Select “Devices” from the menu and choose your Ring Doorbell from the list.
  • Within the Ring Doorbell settings, look for the “Device Health” or “Device Details” option.
  • If a firmware update is available, you will see a “Firmware” or “Software” section with the option to “Update Firmware” or “Check for Updates.”
  • If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to begin the firmware update process.

3. Examine and alter the network settings

As I have already mentioned, your doorbell won’t function properly if it’s connected to the 5 GHz band. This problem can be swiftly resolved by connecting it to the 2.4 GHz frequency.

Change the Wi-Fi network by following this direction:

  • Go to the “Ring app”
  • Go to “Menu” > “Devices”
  • Select your doorbell
  • “Device Health”
  • Go to “Change Wi-fi Network” and follow the directions

  • “Show All Network”

  • Select a 2.4 GHz network and connect to the router

4. Use a Wi-Fi amplifier or move the router close to the Doorbell

The common fix for the problem is to move your router close to the Ring Doorbell.  If the doorbell is out of reach, consider purchasing a Wi-Fi amplifier to extend the signal strength.

If the Wi-Fi range is very short compared to the distance between the router and the doorbell, it will be unable to join the network ring setup a7.

The Ring Chime Pro is a viable option to extend the Wi-Fi range of your Doorbell.

The Ring Chime Pro works as a Wi-Fi extender and an inside Ring bell unit.  But I will suggest buying a normal Wi-Fi extender that extends your whole home network.
